Up to which level you are?

Let us know via comments! :)

The game IS doable and some places might be hard, but there is a solution for everything. So if you are stuck you may consider UPLOADING A SCREENSHOT of the problematic area to some free image hoster and give us the link with your comment. This way we are able to help and/or if too many people have an issue, reduce the difficulty for the final version.

If we help, we would get back to you via email, given in the comments. Don’t worry they are only visible to the administrator and we wont do anything bad with it! Promised!

Bug reports!

Thanks for the massive amount of useful bug reports! Our bugtracker is extremly filled up with bugs, user wishes and things which have to be reconsidered. Going into details right now would be a bit too much…

As the Win32 version is also our main development version, there wont be any updated versions for GP2x Wiz and GP2x until things are fixed.

Count with a better release in three to four weeks.

In the meantime, enjoy playing!

Feedback so far!

We got plenty of feedback so far, thanks a lot for that.

We did a small messup with one of the objects in world one, namely that grey peaky stone, which you can hardly recognize. We will fix that with the next release, along with other small problems. Please allow 3-4 weeks for the changes, as our coder is on vacation :)

If you have more feedback, let us know! Good or bad, we don’t mind!

Giana’s Return v0.99-bnz18 (Win32 Release)

It’s late saturday, but here comes the Windows 32-bit release of Giana’s Return. Released at Buenzli 18 ( http://www.buenz.li ) “the” swiss demoscene event.

Buenzli 18

Giana’s Return aims to be a worthy inofficial sequel of “The Great Giana Sisters”. “The Great Giana Sisters” is an all time classic Jump’N’Run game made in the late eighties mainly by Armin Gessert, Manfred Trenz and Chris Hülsbeck and gained massive attention as a “Super Mario” copy, but it still had it’s very own charm and fanbase.

Giana’s Return is 100% FREEWARE and does not cost you a single cent, should you have paid for it please let us know so we can take legal steps and help others to avoid a possible trap. You are not allowed to distribute the download on any medias or online places without written permission. Official mirrors are available and listed on the official homepage – Please respect this! A contact form is available there.

Giana’s Return was released a while ago but was in unfinished state. This version here is fully recoded from scratch, with new graphics, new sprites, storyline, new music and many other funky things never seen before. It’s fully pimped up for your retro feeling gaming pleasure!

Features:

* 7 Worlds, with each 8 Levels – followed by a “big boss”
* Power Ups and Extras
* Oldschool style pixeled sprites and tiles
* Wonderful hand drawn backgrounds
* Illustrated hand drawn storyline
* Over 18 Tracks of Chipmusic!
* Multi-Language: German, English, French, Spanish
* Password and/or Savegame (depending on release platform)
* Hidden Warp Zones and Bonus Caves
* Hidden Trainer
* TOP 10 Highscore

It should be working without problems on any Windows XP system, other Windows version were not excessive tested.

Download WIN32 Version:

Please help us to spread the word! We rely on you! ;)

Giana’s Return goes iPhone?!

ZodTTD ( http://www.zodttd.com ) had some fun with the Giana’s Return source code and got it running on iPhone 3GS. We are not sure yet, if there will be a release, but what you all can have is the video :)

Update 14-08-2009 @ 01:00
We have decided for now, to let the iPhone Version rest, till we got enough feedback for the WIN32 version, which will be released on Saturday. Many of the WIZ users who promised feedback didn’t do so, so we have to rely on Windows users now. The whole things has one positive aspect, once we decide to pull other systems versions out, they can be considered almost perfect and bug free :)

Webpage overhaul!

As you might be able to see with your own eyes, we have modified our template. Mulle, our beta tester, is not only good in beta testing, but also HTML & Co :)

There will be still modifications the next days!

Enjoy! (and thanks Mulle!)

GP2x & Wiz Giana

Pickle, Flavor and Thor are still heavily optimizing the code, to get the best result for a new Wiz and GP2x version.

We are also working on getting the WIN32 version out soon.

Things

We are following responses on GP32x.com and GP2x.de. Currently we still try to gain speed. We have another unreleased WIZ beta which runs perfectly fine at around 350 MHZ and a GP2x beta (unreleased) which runs at 250 MHZ.

We also try to investigate minor problems people stumbled across…

At this time it does not make sense to post in the blog every day, as soon as there is something new, we will let you know!
